Audiologist and Owner – Lakeway and San Marcos
Dr. Leah Guempel received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Disorders in 2007 and her doctorate from the University of Texas in 2010. While in graduate school, Dr. Guempel was named outstanding first year graduate student in Audiology and Sertoma outstanding graduate student in Audiology.
During graduate school, Dr. Guempel had several clinical rotations she completed throughout Austin including rotations at Dell Children's Hospital and an ENT practice. Dr. Guempel also had a rotation at Cook Hearing & Balance as a student clinician, and after completing her 4th year rotation there, worked as a Doctor of Audiology in the Austin and Cedar Park locations. Dr. Guempel became the audiologist at the Cook Hearing & Balance office in San Marcos when it opened September of 2011. In December of 2012, Dr. Guempel bought Cook Hearing & Balance in San Marcos and renamed it Central Texas Hearing Center.
Dr. Guempel is licensed to practice Audiology in the State of Texas. She is a Fellow of the American Academy (AAA) and holds a certificate of clinical competence in Audiology from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). Dr. Guempel has a passion for hearing awareness. She enjoys her field of practice and hopes to inform and educate the community about the importance of early detection and the use of hearing protection. She is dedicated to helping those who suffer from hearing impairment.
DR. ANDRES RAMIREZ
Dr. Andres Ramirez received his Bachelor of Arts in Communication Disorders in 2014 at Texas Tech University Health Science Center and his Doctorate from Lamar University in 2019.
During graduate school, Dr. Ramirez had several clinical rotations at private practice and ENT clinics throughout Houston and Austin including rotations at Texas Center for Hearing, Bay Area Audiology, Clarity Hearing, Estes Audiology, and South East ENT. Dr. Ramirez completed his 4th year residency at Pearland Hearing Aids and Audiology in South Houston. During his residency he gained experience in diagnostic hearing testing, diagnostic hearing testing with speech in noise, tympanometry, tinnitus evaluations, otoacoustic emissions (OAE), real ear measurements/ live speech mapping, ear molds/ ear impressions, assistive listening devices, and wax removal/ ear cleanings. The position also required expertise with fitting, counseling and troubleshooting major international hearing aid manufacturers (Starkey, Siemens, Phonak, Oticon, Unitron, Widex and ReSound). After completing his 4th year residency, he worked as a Doctor of Audiology in Abilene at ENT Specialists of Abilene. As a native Austinite, Dr. Ramirez came back to Central Texas and became the Audiologist at Central Texas Hearing Center on November 2019.
Dr. Ramirez is licensed to practice Audiology in the State of Texas. He is a Member of the Texas Academy of Audiology (TAA). Dr. Ramirez has a passion for helping others and is patient and kind to everyone he sees.
